Yves Saint Laurent was founded by designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé, in 1962. The prêt-à-porter line is still being produced under the direction of Stefano Pilati after Tom Ford left in 2004. His style is decidedly more French than the overtly sexy image that Tom Ford perpetuated. See more Yves Saint Laurent

Feminine looks are back – draped dresses, delicate embellishments, and a bit of shine. Heels are going down as hemlines creep up; gorgeous minis are ubiquitous. This celebration of prettiness uses colours to match: nude and ice cream tones focus attention on the feminine cut and shape of the clothes. Sheer material is everywhere as underwear becomes outwear. Still, the season is all about being chic rather than showy.
Hannah MacGibbon's looks for Chloé epitomise this season's trends: fresh, feminine, and youthful. The nude tones are in full evidence, in shades of green, gold, and pink. Also on offer are Chloé's signature short shorts, capes, and jackets. Trousers taper to the ankle. Dresses feature the season's embellishments: here, delicate ruffles and chic draping. The look is ultra feminine, both modern and playfully individual. See Chloé SS10
Marc Jacobs' quirky collection incorporates many of the season's trends. He features lace openwork coats and dresses – showing off the lingerie underneath – sheer materials, and heavily draped dresses. The trendy nudes are here, but more understated, incorporating many shades of blue, green, and grey. He fully embraces ruffles, accenting dresses, suits, even bags with another of the season's big trends. He even pairs ruffled miniskirts and long, full skirts with military jackets. Shine also runs through his collection, less with overt glittery accents than with sumptuous fabrics. Marc Jacobs' unique touch is evident; a bum bag made an unlikely appearance on the runway, though thankfully that trend remains dead. See Marc Jacobs SS10
Roland Mouret embraces the nudes and the glitter of the season. Gold is everywhere, from jewellery to his Berber stripes gilt in gold. The trend of beautiful draping is also fully evident, as with his gorgeous golden dresses and tunics. Colour does make an appearance, most notably in his fabulous structured mini dresses. Even his more understated looks appeal, as with his use of black-and-white stripes. The overall effect is rich with glamour and appealingly feminine. See Roland Mouret SS10
Brocade fabrics, silver spikes, and bright colours abound in Christian Louboutin's collection. The shoes are fun and a bit retro, with both edges and cartoonish whimsy. The totality is a bit quirky and unusual – and has received a mixed reception. Yet his shoes for Marchesa are quite different. That line includes a stunning ankle boot design, vine details, ruffles, bows, and his signature heels. It's a classy collection, perfect for evening gowns. See Christian Louboutin SS10
The focus of Jimmy Choo's line is firmly on sculpture, using intricate materials, beautiful lines, and bursts of colour. Multitudes of crossed thin straps create structure and a bold look. The trendy animal print is here, too. The collection includes several snakeskin heels in the season's predominant nude as well as bright blue-green, pink, and even mustard. Subtler black offerings are embellished with buckles and studs. Gold flats have star cut-out patterns. Neon accents are eye-catching. Bags are equally distinctive: decorated with stars, fringe, and buckles, in both the season's nude shades and animal prints, as well as an array of blacks. The collection is a bit mixed overall, but individual offerings surprise and delight. See Jimmy Choo SS10
Alexander McQueen's line dazzles with bold reptilian prints. His theme of exotic metallic snakeskin can be found on everything from sculpted mini dresses to his blunt snakeskin platform shoes. Gold is everywhere. Dresses are shapely, with structured shoulders and folds around the hips. Also present are his signature tight trousers with jodhpur thighs and jackets to match. The season's trend of sheer material and glitz is even present in iridescent beaded leggings and sheer chiffon. As always, his line combines spectacle with glamour. See Alexander McQueen SS10
Famed for his feel-good dresses and sun-drenched prints, it was his passion for travel that inspired Matthew Williamson to become a designer.
The Central Saint Martin's graduate set up his eponymous line in 1997 and the siren call of his vivacious candy-colored creations bedecked with exquisite embroidery and beading has made him a firm favorite with the fashion pack.
His spring '09 collection, which exuded a deluxe boho spirit, marked the label's 11th anniversary.
